After fitting our Evolve Carbon Airbox a few weeks ago the customer also wanted to do suspension and exhaust. With a Bilstein B16 kit, and Supersprint Mid/Rear Sections waiting to go on, along with a plethora of genuine BMW parts to replace and 15/12mm spacers to fit at the same time we got to work transforming the stance and sound of this Laguna Seca Blue E46 M3.
The Bilstein B16 kit is extremely capable, and is well suited for UK B-Roads, providing a sensible amount of drop, and handling bumps far more confidently than the stock suspension. It's what we recommend for most customers wanting a coilover that is designed for function rather than form, and is what we have on our own M2 GTS Project.
Supersprint manufacture some of the highest quality exhausts around, and we've worked with them for many years. We chose the Lightweight Race rear box that saves a significant amount of weight at the very rear of the car compared to the standard box, along with a non resonated centre section. We decided to keep the standard cats to help keep the exhaust from becoming too loud, and because the customer did not want the loss of low down power that comes with a decat. The end result sounds great and perfectly matches the Evolve Carbon Airbox's induction sound.
At the same time we also fitted 15/12mm spacers to fill the arches a little better before the customer chooses which direction he wants to go with for aftermarket wheels.
Lastly we changed the plugs for maintenance, and fitted a prototype Eventuri carbon fibre engine cover which matches the weave direction and quality of our airbox.
The work we've done has transformed this E46 M3 in to something truly special, a perfect fast road car without compromising on usability.
